Back-to-School Survival Guide ☀️ Week 1: Where Do I Even Start?

Hey Teacher Friends!

Well…here we are. August. 😳

That magical time of year when you're excited to get back into your classroom, buy ALL the new school supplies, organize your bins… and then suddenly realize there are approximately 847 things to do before the first day. 😂

If you're feeling a little overwhelmed, take a deep breath. You don't have to have your entire year planned before the first bell rings!

☀️ Back-to-School Survival Tip #1: Focus on the first few days.

Instead of worrying about everything you're going to teach all year, start by getting a few simple, engaging activities ready for those first days. Having something prepared that you KNOW will work can take a lot of pressure off.

Here are a few of my Back-to-School favorites:

​✂️ School-Themed Picture Matching Clip Cards​
A simple, hands-on activity that can be used for independent work, centers, task boxes, or fine motor practice. Perfect for those first days when you're still figuring out what students can do independently.

​👀 Five Senses of Back to School – Differentiated Writing​
A fun way to get students talking and writing about their new school year while giving you opportunities to see where they are academically.

And remember…if your classroom isn't Pinterest-perfect by the first day, your students will probably survive. 😉 Mine certainly have!

Next week we'll tackle the first week of school, when everyone is finally in the building and you're saying, “Okay…now what?” 😂
